Discussion: Can Democrats Handle Joe Biden Passing Away Before the 2024 Election?

Anyone with a functional brain is well aware of the fact that the current president, Joe Biden, is not in the best mental shape- to put it mildly. While many ascribe his loss of mental acuity to his age, that is clearly not the case since many people even a decade older than him are far more functional than him. In my opinion the rapid and obvious loss of mental acuity experienced by Biden since 2017 is a consequence of the brain damage suffered during two complicated surgeries to repair cerebral aneurysms which were performed in the late 1980s. It is well known that brain damage from cerebral insults such as blunt injury, trauma and extensive surgery in earlier life will often lead to rapid cognitive loss in old age. And this brings us the logical question.

Will Joe Biden be able to well enough to appear in public by the time votes are cast in the 2024 presidential election. This is important because he has decided to contest this election and consequently there are no mainstream democrats running against him in the democrat party primary. If his condition deteriorates significantly between now and that election, and especially after he has becomes the Democrat party nominee it might be very hard to find a replacement. Furthermore, every single major potential Democrat candidate has a political record unsuitable for winning against a generic Republican candidate- let alone Trump. To make matters more interesting, unlike 2020 when his handlers successfully kept him away from the public eye by invoking the COVID pandemic, he has no option but appear relatively frequently in public.

There is also the more disturbing possibility that Biden could pass away from natural causes before the election, but after his nomination. Such an event is unprecedented in modern American history. Given the visibly increased physical frailness he has shown in past year, this possibility is far more likely than anyone wants to acknowledge. So, readers, tell me- what do you think will happen if Biden is too mentally incapacitated to appear in public after his nomination, but before the election? Or what happens if Biden croaks before the election? I don’t think the Democrat party has a viable plan to deal with either of those contingencies. Pretending he is not mentally incapacitated or alive are not viable today, if those contingencies come to pass.

It does not help that Biden does not have a solid core of support and the economy still sucks for most people. Also, his party is increasingly seen as associated with people who want to cause mass poverty through environmental and other regulations.
